Tzvetan Todorov's Theory of Narrative

Todorov suggested that conventional narratives are structured in five stages;

1. A state of equilibrium at the outset;
2. A disruption of the equilibrium by some action;
3. A recognition that there has been a disruption;
4. An attempt to repair the disruption;
5. A reinstatement of the equilibrium.

Applying Todorov's theory to 'pop' music videos:
Pop music videos tend to support this theory, especially 'Black Heart' by Stooshe. It begins with the three girls singing together then the male creates a disruption by seeing all three of the girls separately. It then shows him feeling sorry for himself and attempting to resolve the disruption, and then it closes with the three girls still together and not letting this male ruin their friendship.
